I have been reading about the Bodies Exhibition for a long time so I recently took the opportunity to view this creepy display . At first I thought it would be cool to see actual dead bodies...(I know I know, don't judge) but it actually gives you an in depth look into the skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory and circulatory systems of the human body....this was no horror movie. It's basically a biology lesson with actual human specimens being used as illustrations. The bodies used have been dissected to give viewers a closer look at how various parts of the body work. It also illustrates the devastating effects of poor lifestyle choices such as smoking and bad eating habits. The bodies have been preserved using plastination which hardens human tissue and gives it a silicone appearance. However, these bodies are unclaimed corpses from China...which has come under scrutiny by many human rights groups but the organizers maintain that the bodies were legally obtained. I was also disturbed by the fetuses with various birth defects, which were obtained after miscarriages. I'm still not sure how I feel about using actual bodies for a commercial entity....is it educational or as one critic puts it, "a modern day freak show"?....
I was not allowed to take photos so I got some from their FB page
